Why St. Luke's?
We celebrate Holy Eucharist as a faith community joyfully each Sunday in the Episcopal tradition. Our children and youth are full participants in helping to lead worship.
St. Luke's Offers you:
- The opportunity to attend Christian Formation classes for children, youth and adults at 9:15 a.m. Sundays, where we explore what it means to be a Christian;
- Youth group meets monthly and there are other activities for children and families;
- The possibility for all ages to join the choir;
- Social gatherings for adults in the Share and Care group, which welcomes newcomers and shares a fellowship meal every other month in a local restaurant;
- Family activities such as the annual Ox Roast dinner;
- Episcopal Church Women (ECW) who meet monthly and help with church socials and outreach fundraising;
-The prayer group, which prays regularly for anyone who needs prayers for themselves, family members, friends or others.
Worship Ministries and Lay Participation
Ministry at St. Luke's reflects the many gifts that God has provided to each person. Parishioners exercise ministries such as acolytes, chalicers, oblation bearers, ushers, choir, greeters, readers, altar guild, nursery helpers, Vestry and Sunday School teachers.
Outreach at St. Luke's
Mount Joy Helping Services Food Bank - We contribute 1 ton of food per year.
Habitat for Humanity - We work on homes for people in need.
The Sunday School supports schooling for a child from Uganda.
Our beliefs are based on:
Scripture - The Old and New Testaments contain the essence of our Christian beliefs. We understand who God is through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Tradition - The life of the church through the centuries helps us understand scripture as it is experienced in the faith community.
Reason - We use our reason to try and understand God's will for us today, as we interpret scripture to help us make decisions as Christians.
